That would be great, Matt.
I and I agree that a huge number of people love the genre and would like to see a resurgence, or at least not die. An urgent collaboration of heads could possibly make it happen, urgent because so many of the original greats are gone or going fast. Fortunately some are still around who can help. I can think of Richie Daley from Third World, who I believe is still gigging.
I expressed the same thoughts to Don Chandler, who runs the Reggae Bass Club and we’re growing and thriving enthusiastically. But bass needs the other instruments as well. We need each other. So we’re building up bassies at that end. If the same can be done with the other instruments, collaborations between players can really get a chance to gear up.
As a guitarist as well, I’m really grateful for Art of Reggae. My thanks and respect to you and Tuff! Tuff’s lessons set me off to a great start and I’m happy to report that my chops and double chops are no longer at stage 1. You guys are holding down the keys fort as well. Somebody else with a school for drummies and the other stuff and the I could be off and running.
If you can, please reach out to Don at his channel below. He’s a great guy, pro bassie, and educator and man of many hats like yourself, based in the UK.
Riddim!
