ARE YOU NEW TO ART OF REGGAE?

DESCRIPTION OF ALL SECTIONS OF THE SITE

COURSES are specifically tailored to guide you through the understanding of specific topics related to your playing on a step-by-step, sequential basis. Courses can include anywhere from 6-12 videos each. It’s advised that you take the lessons in each course in order, however, feel free to drop in on whatever topic you want at any time. You can find the audio tracks featured in each lesson in the Practice Loops section of the website. You can jam along to practice whatever concept you are working on.

ONE SHOT: A single lesson video, sometimes 2 videos, focusing on a very specific area, as opposed to an entire course with 6-10 sequential lesson videos.

PRACTICE LOOPS: Here you’ll find some amazing play-along tracks that include original songs composed specifically for the courses and one-shots recorded by the Art of Reggae band. (Tuff Lion – guitar, Winston Maccow – bass, Glen Grant – drums, Maroghini – percussions, Matt Jenson – keyboards) You’ll also find electronic re-makes of many popular Jamaican riddims. You can choose versions of the practice loops that are specific for your instrument in which that instrument is muted. For instance, if you’re a keyboard player, you can choose the practice loop version that has the keyboards muted. You can use any of these loops to practice any of the concepts you are learning.

CURATED PLAYLISTS: It’s great to hear recordings of actual reggae artists playing the concepts that are presented in the Art of Reggae courses and one-shots. However, finding the specific recordings that demonstrate the concept at hand can take HOURS. We’ve made specially curated Spotify playlists that go along with each course and one-shot that take you directly to the source! Be sure to look at the PDF associated with each playlist for a full description of each song on the list.
